A Nice Cup of Tea by Lindsey Sherman
This post was inspired by my man, George Orwell, who wrote the essay “A Nice Cup of Tea” —> www.netcharles.com/orwell/essays/nicecupoftea.htm
Here are some tea preparation/consuming guidelines according to the one and only, Lindsey Sherman. While Orwell has some great points, I’d like to add my own twist on things :)
1. I’ll admit there have been many many times where lipton tea is my only option and it does do the job. However, you’ve just gotta try a million different types of tea. You can’t sit there and tell me that you are not a tea drinker if all you’ve ever tried is standard, lipton tea. NOOOOO sir.
2. Tea drinking is much more fun in a pretty and/or interesting looking thermos or mug. I enjoy my tea as much as what I drink it in.
3. In order to make iced tea, you must boil some hot tea and add it to a ton of ice. Iced tea should consumed with a cool straw and in a cool cup.
4. When drinking tea to sooth your throat, stick with herbal teas.
5. You must take deep, soothing breaths while drinking tea.
6. You are not allowed to yell while drinking tea.
7. If a friend is sick, share your tea with him/her.
8. Tea MUST be drunken every day during the fall and winter seasons. EVERY. DAY.
9. If you need to sweeten your tea, add honey.
10. Drink coffee for doing and tea for “being”.
11. Drinking tea alone is peaceful, but making tea for friends and family is the most satisfying.
